BUNINYONG MT HELEN Lions Club

District 201V1-4, Victoria, Australia

Iconic Landmark Buninyong Town Hall and former Courthouse

Buninyong is a town in Victoria, Australia. The town is on the Midland Highway,10km south of Ballarat on the road to Geelong. It is the site of the first inland town proclaimed in Victoria in 1838. The population at the 2006 census was 3,085. The name originates from an Aboriginal word also recorded as 'Buninyouang', said to mean 'man lying on his back with his knees raised', which is in reference to the shape of Mount Buninyong. European settlers named it Bunnenyong and the name later simplfied to its current form

We are the Lions

Buninyong Mt Helen Lions are very active in the community, assisting with local events, working on various projects and assisting community members in need of a helping hand around the garden. We raise funds for Lions projects that assist  locally, around our District, Australia, and around the world. In the time of disasters such as the many we have seen recently Our Club supports Australian Disasters such as fire and floods through Australian Lions Foundation (ALF)and around the world such as Haiti, New Zealand and Japan through Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).
